Saturday, July 26 was an important day for SEIU Healthcare. It was one of the largest events the union has held over the past few years. More than 1,500 members and their families came out for some sun and whole lot of fun at Wild Water Kingdom in Brampton. And they came from all across Ontario, including Toronto, Newmarket, Kitchener, Brantford, Belleville, Napanee and more.
The day started out with an awesome BBQ that had a lot of big hamburgers and hotdogs. The kids played cool games such as potato sack races, water balloon toss, and three-legged races. And a couple of member activists did some amazing face painting that would impress some Hollywood make-up artists.
And that was only the first half of the day!
Once the fires on the BBQ grills started to cool down, the members headed over to the WWK theme park, where they enjoyed nearly 20 different water slides, wave pools, rock climbing, mini-golf, volleyball, and much more.
SEIU Healthcare would like to thank all the members who volunteered their time to help run the event. There were greeters who welcomed members and their families to the park. Members volunteered at the SEIU registration desk to process guests smoothly and quickly. And they also spoke to people about SEIU’s province-wide Labour Day plans in September.
SEIU would also like to thank the weatherman. Even though he was predicting rain for several days, it didn’t happen!
