Who We Are

We are a union serving 55,000 members in the healthcare sector in Ontario. Since the merging of six Locals into one large Local Union, we have been focused on advocating on behalf of our members by launching progressive member driven programs, adapting best practices and encouraging new and innovative ideas. We believe that in order for our communities to succeed, the people within them need to succeed. Our vision is simple yet far reaching.

Developing You to Succeed

At SEIU, training our staff to take on our new and exciting initiatives helps us actively pursue our vision. Training takes place in various forms including e-learning, workshops, quarterly staff meetings and formal programs.

We enjoy helping our staff develop, succeed and grow with our organization. Promoting from within is common here and 75% of our senior managers have been promoted from staff positions.

Our management training focuses on training managers to coach and develop our staff through on-the-job opportunities. We have developed a peer mentoring system to help individuals succeed when they join our team.

During our orientation and onboarding program, each new employee is partnered with a senior employee who mentors and integrates them into our organization.

Health and Welfare

Providing our employees with a healthy workplace is important! We have great employer-provided health and dental coverage. A health a wellness committee promotes physical and mental well-being through staff driven activities! You can’t help healthcare workers without being healthy!

We are proud to be part of the largest Union in North America. Together with our partners in the U.S. some of our staff participate in trainings, conferences and committees with our international partners in the United States.

These partnerships enable us to adopt a progressive approach to unionism and support the implementation of best practices that are aligned with labour movement values.

Location & Offices

Our head office in Richmond Hill, Ontario offers a great reprieve for those dreading the commute to downtown Toronto. Prefer to work outside of the GTA? We have you covered with opportunities in our regional offices including Ottawa, St. Catharines, London, Barrie, North Bay and Thunder Bay.
