It’s not as easy as you think.
Some people think environmental services and housekeeping is an easy job. But many people don’t understand that it involves a lot of hard work and exposure to hazardous chemicals and bio-hazards.
Environmental services and housekeeping employees clean up patient areas, offices, restrooms and hallways to keep our healthcare facilities clean and germ free. They disinfect door knobs, handles, sinks, fixtures and walls to stop the spread of germs. Using extreme caution, they also perform garbage pickup and disposal. They aid in the prevention of communicable diseases by thoroughly sanitizing public areas and private rooms alike.
Physically, workers must be able to stand and walk for long periods and reach and bend. The job also involves pushing a cart and using a ladder to clean walls and vents, along with some lifting.
