Thousands of SEIU Healthcare members welcomed Chinese New Year, the year of the goat on February 19. The goat symbolizes a year of promise, prosperity, kindness and trust.
How do Chinese people celebrate the New Year? It all varies from region to region. Many Chinese families get together for a big family dinner. They also spend a lot of time cleaning their house to “sweep away” any ill-fortune and create a pathway for good luck. Windows and doors are decorated with red coloured paper cuts and couplets. Some people like to light up fire crackers and give away money in red paper envelopes.
Wishing everyone celebrating the best of health and luck in everything you do. Happy New Year!
