Kailin is a Clerical Associate at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She keeps the flow of patients moving in and out of the surgical department, keeping things organized and on-schedule. Kailin, like many administrative professionals, works hard to keep our healthcare system moving. Our healthcare facilities need people like her to transfer patients properly and give them piece of mind while their loved ones are in surgery. The quality of our healthcare system would not be the same without her.
Here's what Kailin had to share about her role as an Clerical Associate:
We do all of the doctor’s orders and transfer patients out of facility. We communicate doctor’s orders for other departments and other nursing staff. We also organize a lot of things for a lot of outside parties.
"I think we bring a different set of skills to the care model. The people we deal with are in very stressful situations."
I think we bring a different set of skills to the care model. The people we deal with are in very stressful situations. Their family members are having surgery and they worry about them. They never know what the outcome is. When people are waiting, the first person they see is someone at the front desk. I always try to assure them everything is going to be okay.
We bring a different kind of compassion. We aren’t clinical people but we do offer a different kind of compassion for patients or their families. We deal with the family members who have the worries about their sick family members.
