On March 25th the stewards of Simcoe Community Services approached SEIU Healthcare asking that we do a fundraiser for one of their members (Tanya) whose son was diagnosed with cancer. On March 26th a letter was mailed out to all members of Simcoe Community Services letting them know of the 'Cupcake Fundraiser'. The membership had until April 15th to bring their order forms and payment to the scheduled General Membership Meeting. An overwhelming 1200+ cupcakes were pre-ordered by members.

The supportive owner's of Victoria's Antique Treats, Victoria and Carol Springall, rose to the challenge and not only made and donated the cupcakes, but were also able to deliver them to the SEIU Regional office on April 17th at 9am sharp. As a result of the generosity of Victoria & Carol, on April 23, 2014 Victoria Springall, Tim Loftus and Kathy Lemon presented Tayna with $1600 in cash to assist her and her husband with travel expenses as they go between Barrie and Sick Kids Hospital.

A big thank you to all of the members who participated in this fundraiser, particularly the Stewards Lisa Springall, Tim Loftus, Kathy Lemon and Michelle Melvilk for stepping up and caring for the members that they represent.
