Students from at-risk neighbourhoods in Pickering, Etobicoke, Brampton and Jamaica awarded scholarships

(September 4, 2013 – Richmond Hill, ON) Four GTA students from at-risk neighbourhoods (Pickering, Etobicoke and Brampton) were awarded $500 scholarships to help with the cost of attending post-secondary education at the back2school BBQ sponsored by SEIU Healthcare, Canada’s largest healthcare union, and Miracle Centre Ministries on Saturday, August 31.


Scarborough church and healthcare union rally to help family left homeless by house fire

(August 28, 2013 - Richmond Hill, ON) A local church in Scarborough will be accepting donations this Saturday for a local family left homeless by a fire in their Kimbercroft Court townhouse. The fire, which occurred on August 15th, claimed all the families’ possessions. The family was not insured.


Healthcare union rebrands to better reflect its members as the “Heart of Healthcare” this Labour Day

Sudbury Council passes resolution calling on government to fulfill the promise of homecare

Hospitals and healthcare union enter new era of labour negotiations

(July 22, 2013 - Richmond Hill, ON) As negotiations between 34 of Ontario’s hospitals and SEIU Healthcare, Canada’s largest healthcare union, are set to begin, a new era of bargaining is about to unfold. At a conference last week, SEIU Healthcare members voted to no longer participate in a traditional central bargaining process with the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and to immediately move to undertake negotiations with each hospital individually.
