Some Sunrise of Aurora workers are officially unionized.

The Ontario Labour Relations Board ordered immediate certification of the Service Employees International Union, Local 1 Canada (SEIU health care) as the exclusive bargaining agent for workers employed at the senior living community in a ruling issued last month.

Trust fund set up for crash victims

A trust fund has been established by a union to help pay for the American medical bills of one of its Hamilton members hurt in a car crash in New York State.

Karen Weller and her four-month-old son Tajaye were travelling south of Albany in February when their vehicle was hit by a driver going the wrong way. Weller’s friend Carol Dion, a passenger in the car, died of her injuries from the crash.
