December 3 was proclaimed as International Day of Persons with Disabilities by the UN to raise awareness of the skills and contributions people with disabilities make in our workplaces, communities, and families.
Inclusion and diversity are central SEIU Healthcare values which we live through every facet of our union. On behalf of the more than 55,000 members we represent, SEIU Healthcare would like to thank all our Sisters and Brothers with disabilities for the important contributions they make to our healthcare system every day.

We know this process has been challenging. You have put your trust in us and we do not take that responsibility lightly. Your SEIU is working around the clock to ensure we are positioned well as we enter this next phase.
We're sure you have many questions and concerns about the days and weeks ahead. We want to make sure you are well-informed, ready to strike, and are given a platform to voice your opinions.
We hope you can join us for a live telephone town hall on Wednesday, December 4.
We will be hosting two calls, one at 11:00am – 12:00pm and another from 7:00pm – 8:00pm. Please come onto the call that works best for your schedule.
To join, simply be near your home phone minutes before 11:00am or 7:00pm. When we call, you’ll hear a prompt to join the telephone townhall. You do not need to call in – we’ll call you.
If you haven’t already, please call the SEIU Member Resource Centre at 1-877-672-7348 to ensure we have your current phone number.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to speaking with you on Wednesday.

Today, Saturday, November 30, we counted the votes from ratification meetings held across the province on the tentative agreement with Red Cross Care Partners and the Red Cross Society. SEIU Healthcare members voted to reject the tentative agreement.
This means the ball is now in the employer’s court. The only way to avoid a province-wide homecare strike is for Red Cross to make a better offer.
In the meantime, all PSWs should report to work as normal until you hear from us with a message that sets a minimum 24 hour strike notice.
We understand why members voted no to the tentative agreement. The small gains we made were not enough to satisfy your demands for justice.
There are many moving parts to this and we want to make sure you’re always in the loop.
Please call the Member Resource Centre (MRC) at 1-877-672-7348 to make sure we have your correct contact information.
Thank you once again for your determination to get justice for PSWs. The fight continues.

As champions for Healthcare, we recognize the strength of our members in responding to the needs of others. Today, we ask for that care to extend beyond our borders. SEIU Healthcare is supporting the relief efforts for Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines by donating to Humanitarian Coalition. From November 19th - 29th, we ask our members to donate whatever monetary amount they can. Together, we can unite to provide strength in numbers.
The Humanitarian Coalition is a joint appeal mechanism, comprised of CARE Canada, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam-Québec, Plan Canada and Save the Children Canada. They bring together Canada’s leading aid agencies to finance relief efforts in times of international humanitarian crises, thus eliminating unnecessary competition, reducing the duplication of fundraising costs, and informing the public on humanitarian needs.
For all the donations that the Humanitarian Coalition receive, the government will match that amount. The time to donate is now!
Where to Donate:
• Credit Card/PayPal via Humanitarian Coalition’s website.
• In some locations, directly with cash in the Donation Cans provided to you by SEIU Healthcare.
Thanks in advance for your support!
