Cheryl Latondress an RPN at the Georgian Bay Hospital became the first Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario to receive a Designation from the de Souza Institute. The Institute was set up to provide further education and professional development to healthcare workers who care for patients with life threatening illness.
Cheryl, a palliative care nurse, has been in Nursing for almost 30 years! She recently completed the 150 hours of continuing education in order to earn this Distinction by the de Souza Institute.
Healthscape, an initiative of the Ontario Hospital’s Association quoted the Director of the de Souza Institute, Dr. Mary Jane Esplen: "Cheryl Latondress is a role model for all RPNs across Ontario… With her specialized de Souza training and Designation, Cheryl is providing patients at Georgian Bay General Hospital the best palliative care."
