Andy is an emergency response officer at Bluewater Health in Sarnia. He serves on SEIU Healthcare’s Executive Board as the hospitals representative and is also a steward in his workplace.
Andy is excited to be part of a bargaining committee that is able to advocate at a high level, not just for his local hospital, but for hardworking caregivers across Ontario. He hopes to help achieve a collective agreement that provide fairness and stability for all workers.
Candace is an RPN at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, where she also serves as chief steward. She also served on SEIU Healthcare’s executive board from 2011 to 2015.
As someone who has participated in three local bargainings, Candace’s experience should prove useful in these central negotiations. As an RPN, she hopes to help negotiate better language for RPN-related issues.
Denise is an RPN at Alexander Marine and General Hospital in Goderich, where she also serves as a chief steward.
As part of your bargaining committee, Denise is excited to amplify the voices of not just her fellow nurses, but all SEIU Healthcare members from across the province. She hopes to help bring issues relating to the RPN profession to the forefront and help negotiate a fair contract that benefits everyone.
John is a senior I.S. helpdesk clerk at the Quinte Hospital Corporation, where he serves its four sites in Belleville, Trenton, Picton and North Hastings. John is a chief steward and sits on several committees at his workplace.
John understands the importance of a strong bargaining committee and believes his experience will be an asset. He is hopeful that the committee will negotiate a new collective agreement that provides improvements in many important areas, including wages, benefits and health and safety.
Jon works in the staffing/admitting department at West Park Healthcare Centre in Toronto. Jon is a chief steward and is an SEIU Healthcare appointee to the HOOPP Board of Trustees.
Working in healthcare for over 36 years, Jon ran for the bargaining committee because he knows his experience will add value to the team. His goal is to help negotiate a collective agreement that offers fairness and stability for all hospital members.
Mary Jo Urquhart
Mary Jo is an RPN at Hotel Dieu - Health Sciences Hospital Niagara, where she is also a chief steward.
Mary Jo also currently sits on SEIU Healthcare’s Nursing Division Board as the Region 6 representative.
Mary is a food service worker at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto. She brings a wealth of experience to the committee, currently serving as a chief steward and formally serving on SEIU Healthcare’s Executive Board.
Mary hopes her participation with the bargaining committee will help set an example and motivate her peers to get more involved in their union. Through bargaining, she hopes to see improvements to wages, benefits and job security.
Tracey is an RPN at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie. She has been a steward for the last five years and currently sits on SEIU Healthcare’s Nursing Division Board as the Vice President of the Hospital sector.
Tracey brings strong leadership to the bargaining committee and hopes to see the OHA recognize the valuable contribution that RPNs make in hospitals. This can be achieved by fairer wages and scheduling rules, as well as more protection and stability in nursing practice environments.
