SEIU Local 1 Canada rallies outside city hall over budget cuts

Rainy weather and frigid temperatures didn't dampen the spirits of SEIU members who attended the rally outside city hall last night.

Unions, activists and community workers gathered outside of City Hall to fight Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's budget cuts that would impact various social and community initiatives.

Carrying anti-Rob Ford signs, the crowd chanted various slogans like, "Stop the war on the poor make the rich pay," "Shame" and "When poor people are under attack, what do we do? Stand up fight back."

SEIU Local 1 Canada was proud to take part in the event organized by The Stop the Cuts network.

Established in December 2010, The Stop the Cuts network was created when Ford took office. The Toronto Stop the Cuts Network is now comprised of ten neighbourhood chapters and hundreds of families affected by cuts to city services, as well as City staff.
