We are honoured and grateful to have won awards at the Canadian Association of Labour Media for two communications initiatives last year, with a special mention for our 2014 members' report.
The judges emphasized that the reason we won was because our members' stories are highlighted throughout our communications channels. Members matter the most, and we strive every day to help capture your stories and share them through the province.
Together, we won “Best short video” and "Best website content,” with an honourable mention in the “Best hardcopy promotional material” category for our annual member’s report.
We spoke with Cidalia Martins, homecare PSW from Cambridge, Ontario and star of the winning video, to reminisce about the shoot day and get her feeling on the video’s impact.
“We had a lot of fun doing it. Everybody was passionate about what we were fighting for, so I think we worked really hard and in the end we got what we wanted. It’s a process but the homecare raise is in the making. First the [Red Cross] strike, then the work we put into the video…it all paid off in the end but we still have a lot of work to do to get ahead. The future is ours."
Our union has over 55,000 wonderful stories to tell so let's keep it up and show everyone the true meaning of heart of healthcare.
